Nathaniel Chalobah Loaned to Middlesbrough FC

The official Chelsea Football Club website confirmed today that the versatile England international Nathaniel Chalobah has been loaned to Championship side Middlesbrough for the remainder of the season. Chalobah was on what was supposed to be a year long loan at Nottingham Forest, but having made only 12 appearances for the West Bridgford side he was recalled by Chelsea brass. His loan spell at Watford under Gianfranco Zola in 2012/13 was hugely successful and Chalobah was a key player for a side that came agonizingly close to promotion.

Chalobah is a U21 England international with the potential to anchor either the defense or midfield for the Three Lions. He has shown flashes but is not yet ready for first team football in the Premier League. Fellow Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo is already at Middlesbrough and Josh McEachren enjoyed a fairly successful loan at the club last year. Even if he plays at a high level in the Championship again, Chalobah will likely be loaned again next season but hopefully to another Premiership or top level European club.
