Eden Hazard has had a spectacular season for Chelsea FC and is currently the club’s top scorer. He has emerged as manager Jose Mourinho’s favored son and has become the centerpiece of Mourinho’s lineups. He has made a significant leap from a player who had flashes of brilliance to one capable of controlling the pace and tempo of a match. Never was this more evident than against Newcastle United where Hazard scored his first hat-trick and against Manchester City in the Premier League where he failed to score but completely took over the match. Eden Hazard may be favored to win the Young Player of the Year award but he is a longshot for the Player of the Year against established veterans such as Steven Gerrard and Yaya Toure on the ballot. However to be nominated for either award, much less both, is quite the honor for the young Belgian.

The last Chelsea FC players to win the award are John Terry as PFA Player of the Year in 2004/05 and Scott Parker as Young Player of the Year in 2003-04.
