Manuel Pellegrini: Manchester City Would Be Frustrated Not To Win Premier League

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini said in a press conference today before his side’s 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion that City would be frustrated if they did not win the Premier League after being favorites for so long. Manchester City were indeed favorites for much of the season despite some early hiccups including a loss to Aston Villa and Sunderland in the first few months. They were also still favorites when they had three games in hand and Chelsea were top of the league just a few months ago but clearly things have not gone as planned for either club.

Maneul Pellegrini on being favorites to win the league:

"“I think that everyone of us will be very frustrated if we don’t win the league. Because if we were favourites to win the league it’s because of the way we played the whole part of the year, not because we were leading the table. If you review the table, we were only top one or two times but, the way we have played the whole year, of course I think we would be frustrated if we don’t win the league.”"

Pellegrini also spoke about how injuries have impacted the club’s season:

"“I don’t like to use this excuse, especially after you draw the last game [against Sunderland] and maybe you think that we have less chance to win the title. Never in this moment will I try to have excuse for those type of things. But we’ve had a lot of injuries.”"

Things have taken a strange turn for the Sky Blues and they have gained the same annoying habit of dropping points to lesser teams the way Chelsea has. A lot of things have to go their way for either City or Chelsea to win the league but both clubs will be ruing their missed opportunities if Liverpool lift the trophy.
