Chelsea FC: Demba Ba Staying Positive

Chelsea FC striker Demba Ba has stayed positive despite having a difficult season where he has had limited opportunities to impress on the pitch. Ba told the Daily Telegraph that he does not need extra motivation when he is called on to play because he always stays mentally prepared. Demba Ba’s relentlessly positive attitude and knack for scoring clutch goals has made him a hit around Stamford Bridge and a great teammate.

Demba Ba on staying motivated and focused during long stretches on the bench:

"“I’ve had some tough periods but, at the end of the day, I know that football is what I love doing. I don’t really need motivation to play. It’s always good for a player to be on the field, rather than on the sidelines. It’s difficult because any time you’re going to get your chance, you’re not as fit as you should be because you don’t have the tempo of the game. The less you play it’s difficult so mentally you need to be prepared to give everything, more than what you have.”"

Ba responding to the talk of Chelsea adding new striking options in the summer:

"“Compared to what I’ve lived in my life, what I’ve been through, this is nothing. This is like, this is nothing. I know myself and when people think I’m not good enough or I’m weak or whatever, I know myself.”"

Demba Ba has come on strong for the Blues late in the season with three very important goals that all happened to be match or cup tie winners. The first was his stoppage time finish in traffic against PSG, the second his match winner against Swansea City, and the third his opener against Liverpool at Anfield right in front of the Kop.

If Ba does indeed leave in the summer then he will have made his mark in a big way on this season with those vital goals. It would be ideal if he could stay at Chelsea as the third striker behind Romelu Lukaku and whoever Chelsea brings in but first team football elsewhere may be hard to turn down.
