The official website of Chelsea FC has announced today that captain John Terry has signed a one year extension with the club. Terry has signed the deal on the back of one of his best seasons in recent memory and after captaining the best defense in the Premier League. There was speculation that the Chelsea skipper would move on to play overseas with clubs in Turkey and the MLS among the rumored destinations.

The club’s statement read:

"“Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce John Terry has signed a one-year extension to his contract. The most successful captain in the club’s history and our fourth highest appearance maker, the 2014/15 season will be Terry’s 17th in the first team. He made his debut in October 1998 as a 17-year-old having joined the club as a youth trainee at the age of 14.”"

Chelsea FC Chief Executive Ron Gourlay also said: “:We are very pleased John, who is an undoubted Chelsea legend, will continue to lead the team next season, as he has done for so many years with unrivaled achievement”.
