Turkish club Besiktas confirmed that they are no longer interested in Chelsea FC’s Senegalese forward Demba Ba and will focus on other targets. This comes less than a month after they confirmed their interest in him when Besiktas board member Deniz Atalay said ““We have been linked with a lot of players but the only player we are interested in right now is Demba Ba”. Atalay also said that they made an inquiry for the Senegal striker but “Chelsea have not decided whether they want to keep hold of him next season”.

Well now they have made it clear that regardless of what Chelsea have decided, Besiktas have confirmed that they have moved on to other targets including Samuel Eto’o and Bafetimbi Gomis. They will also be on the lookout during the World Cup for any other strikers that they can afford.

Besiktas director of football Onder Ozen said

"“Fikret Orman [the Turkish club’s president] met twice with the CEO of Chelsea [Ron Gourlay] however, a deal did not materialise. We are no longer interested in Ba. We also held talks with Hannover 96 striker Diouf however he suffered a serious injury so we have decided to wait until he recovers.”Source: The Guardian"

The Guardian, and many others, believe that Demba Ba is going to be surplus to requirements with Diego Costa supposedly coming in to the fold at Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho also has to deal with a returning Romelu Lukaku and the incumbent Fernando Torres. Chelsea and Mourinho have some interesting decisions to make in regards to their striker position and Demba Ba is one of those. He confirmed in late-May that Mourinho told him he is in the plans for next year but we have learned to take everything the manager says with a grain of salt.
