Chelsea FC has announced another preseason friendly for this summer as part of their tour of Europe. The most recent announcement is regarding the friendly against Hungarian side Ferencvaros on Sunday August 10th. The first friendlies Chelsea will play this summer are on July 16th and 19th against AFC Wimbledon and Wycombe Wanderers respectively. The squad for those friendlies will be comprised mostly of youth team players.

This summer’s preseason tour will be decidedly less international than usual due to the World Cup. Instead of traveling to Asia or the United States, the Blues will stay in Europe but will travel to some interesting locations including Hungary and Austria.

The official statement from the Chelsea FC website:

"Chelsea Football Club is pleased to announce a pre-season friendly away to Hungarian side Ferencvaros on Sunday August 10.The game will kick off at 7.45pm UK time and will be the first match played at the Florian Albert Stadium, the new home of our opponents – the 28-time champions of Hungary and winners of the 1965 Fairs Cup.Ferencvaros finished third in last season’s Hungarian league and are managed by former Germany international Thomas Doll.Ticket details for the match will be announced in due course. It will also be screened live on Chelsea TV.This match has been organised in cooperation with our pre-season partners Match IQ, who have already helped organise our European training camp which takes in four matches against sides from Austria, Slovenia, the Netherlands and Germany.Source: ChelseaFC.com"

The other friendlies announced just two weeks ago are against Austrian first division team RZ Pellets WAC, followed by a trip to Slovenia to face NK Olimpija Ljubljana, and finally trips to Holland and Germany to play Vitesse Arnhem and Werder Bremen. Vitesse is seen as Chelsea’s feeder club and many youngsters from the Blues’ setup get sent on loan there to get regular first team action. Hopefully more friendly dates will be announced and perhaps against more high profile opposition.
