Former Chelsea FC midfielder Frank Lampard told Sky Sports that he will make his decision regarding his future “very shortly”. The England vice-captain has been linked to a host of teams but the strongest links have been to MLS side New York City FC. Lampard has also been linked with the Manchester City-owned A-League team Melbourne City.

The 36 year old Lampard still believes that he has something left in the tank and his performances for England this summer proved it. He was England’s best player on the pitch in their 0-0 draw with eventual quarterfinalists Costa Rica and he can still impact a match. He may not be the dynamic attacking midfielder that he once was but he still has the poise and quality to improve any club he joins.

Frank Lampard on his decision and future with the England national team:

"“At the moment I have got a few options. There is no exclusive but I will be making a decision very shortly. Of course I would like to play for England again. But maybe you cannot play for ever so again I’ve switched off for the moment. I have not made that decision either. I’m very aware that my England career cannot go on for ever and I have enjoyed every minute so we will see. It will be a difficult decision but at the end of the day I would not ever have dreamed of having such an England career so I can only be happy with whatever decision I make.”Source: Sky Sports"

If a player of Frank Lampard’s quality joins the MLS then it will be another boon for the growing league. He may not have the global profile of a David Beckham or Thierry Henry but his career accomplishments dwarf the both of them combined. The MLS will be a better league with Frank Lampard and Chelsea will miss his passion and professionalism.
