Cesc Fabregas Praises New Chelsea FC Teammate Diego Costa

Two of Chelsea FC’s newest signings have one thing in common, they both played for a disappointing Spanish national team in this summer’s World Cup albeit under different circumstances. Fabregas has always been one of the star men in Spain’s midfield but has never found his permanent role in the squad. Diego Costa arrived as the new hope for Spain as they searched for years since Fernando Torres’s decline for their next great striker. One arrived with a Brazilian citizenship but decided to pull on the shirt of his adopted country instead.

Things did not go very smoothly for Costa or Fabregas at the World Cup as the Spanish team looked disjointed and just plain old. Costa arrives at Chelsea with similar expectations and with the same man he replaced for Spain as his competition. He is a big and physical striker who should have little problem adapting to the rough and tumble English Premier League after terrorizing La Liga defenses. Fabregas knows a thing or two about both Costa and the Premier League and he said the big striker “has been progressing immensely in the last couple of years”.

Diego Costa is a bit of a late bloomer in that he did not hit the big stage until he was already 25 years old. Chelsea do have experience dealing with temperamental strikers who bloom late in their careers so dealing with Costa should be no issue. Fabregas also said about Costa that “he is a real threat in every single game. Last season he was playing every three days and he was consistently giving really strong performances”.

Chelsea will be counting on the Fabregas-Costa connection and the midfielder praised the big striker’s positioning and movement. Fabregas told Sky Sports that he really likes the runs Costa makes “because it gives you an option to play the killer ball” which he is certainly known for. Fabregas added that he thinks Costa “will do superbly here”. We certainly think so too.
