It appears former Rio Ferdinand , the former Manchester United and current Queens Park Rangers defender is still a bit bitter over the confrontation between Chelsea FC’s captain John Terry and Rio Ferdinand’s brother from a few years back.

In an article from the Sun, Rio mentioned he no longer speaks to Terry after the incident, which Rio claims derailed Anton’s professional footballing career as well as created an eenvironment in which he received death threats. Rio stated he received “bullets in the post and unending racist abuse.”. While he does not seem to believe that John Terry is a racist, he was questioning wny JT did not just admit he used the language in the heat of the moment, and moved on.

"“He never apologised to me or Anton and has never hinted he has had a moment of understanding over the damage his stupidity has inflicted on everyone,”- Rio Ferdinand in The Sun"

The current Chelsea and former England captain was acquitted of racial abuse during a trial in July 2012, but he was later banned for 4 matches and fined £220,000 over the incident by the Football Association. After the FA’s decision, Terry subsequently apologized for his actions and decided not to appeal the 4 game suspension.

As far as his own England career, Rio Ferdinand seems to partially blame the end of that aspect of his career on John Terry as well. Rio claimed that “uncertainty and bad feeling” meant his England career was ruined, but JT was able to continue on for the Three Lions. Rio was particularly disappointed that England manager Roy Hodgson never asked him if he would consider playing with Terry again, which left Rio feeling marginalized.

"“John and I would have had a working relationship and it would have been fine, but no one ever asked.”- Rio on renewing England central defense pairing with John Terry"

Terry later decided to retire from International football in September of 2012, but continues in fine form for Chelsea FC.
