Chelsea FC’s injury woes deepen as striker Loic Remy limped off and was substituted from the match against NK Maribor on Tuesday. The striker had been in good form in recent matches and even scored the opener against Maribor but injured himself somehow in the process.

It appeared at the time to be a groin pull as he immediately gestured to it and grimaced in pain after the goal. The extent of the injury to Remy is still unknown but muscle pulls or strains usually take at least a few weeks before they are completely healed.

Diego Costa is already a doubt for the match against Manchester United and was not involved in the squad today because of the injury. There are rumors that he may yet be fit enough to face Manchester United on Sunday but there has been no confirmation of this from either Diego Costa or Jose Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho on Loic Remy’s injury:

"“Loic Remy has a problem in his groin, I don’t know. Normally a muscular problem is a muscular problem so a couple of weeks. I was not expecting Didier to play for 75 minutes but he had to come on. Now he has to improve his condition, we know the player he is and we know he can still give us a lot.”Source: BBC.com"

Didier Drogba showed today that he can play nearly a full match but it was clear that he is not as good of an option as Diego Costa or Loic Remy would be. Drogba even got on the scoresheet and came close to adding a second late in the second half but was not much of a threat otherwise. He can still assist in hold up and build up play but is not the player he once was.
