Vicente Del Bosque Will Be ‘Stubborn’ Over Diego Costa

Spain national team manager Vicente Del Bosque has claimed that he will be “stubborn” with Diego Costa as he tries to get the best from the player. Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho has criticized Del Bosque for playing Diego Costa nearly the full game in two matches in just four days when he knows he has had issues with his hamstring. Costa went to join the Spain camp as a fit player but returned with an injury and has missed three matches because of the injury.

Diego Costa has been on an absolute tear with Chelsea FC but has yet to match that form with the Spain national team. Unfortunately for Jose Mourinho and Diego Costa, every time he has gone to join La Furia Roja this season he has returned with an injury that threatens his playing time with Chelsea.

It did not help matters that Loic Remy also picked up and injury so Mourinho has been forced to use 36 year old Didier Drogba in three matches within a week. The Ivorian has stepped up to the challenge but who knows what a fit Diego Costa could have done against a subpar Manchester United backline.

Vicente Del Bosque on being stubborn with Diego Costa:

"“We’ve had no luck with Diego. He didn’t join us at the best time and the injuries he had didn’t help him. In some things we are very flexible and in others stubborn, and in this we are stubborn. I don’t know if we are right or wrong, but if we hadn’t called up Costa for the national team we’d definitely have been criticized for not having done so.”Source: Telegraph"

Del Bosque needs to realize that first and foremost Diego Costa is a Chelsea FC player. They pay his wages, provide him with a livelihood, and should always be consulted when it comes to his fitness before a match. Instead, Del Bosque has dismissed Chelsea and Mourinho and has not even contacted them in regards to Diego Costa. This needs to change as soon as possible before Diego Costa starts picking up phantom injuries the weekend before an international break.
