Chelsea FC vs. Everton Goal Analysis
By Mike Adams
5th Chelsea Goal (77’) – Upon reset, Chelsea immediately pressed the attack in an attempt to finally put Everton away. A combination of passes between Hazard, Ramires, and Matic on the right wing unlocked the porous Everton defense. Ramires had the ball in the box with just Tim Howard to beat thanks to a nice give-go exchange with Matic. Showing no hesitation, the Brazilian finished with a toe poke that went over the kneeling Howard. Again capitalizing on a lax Everton defense, Chelsea was able to easily set up their scoring chances. The goal from Ramires capped off an amazing sequence of play, with 5 goals being scored in just 11 minutes and 15 seconds.
A celebratory Mourinho pumped his fist on the sideline. Seeing his team uncharacteristically give up so many goals had clearly peeved the Portuguese boss. While this type of game is one Jose looks to avoid, he should be able to take solace in the fact that his team can compete in the occasional goalfest.
