5. Jose Mourinho vs. Juan Mata
Former two-time Chelsea player of the year, Juan Mata, opened up about his time playing under Jose Mourinho earlier this week stating, “For better or for worse, we had no relationship, there was no dialogue. I was not happy, but always gave my all and respected my colleagues.”
Seeing Mata leave the club last January to join United was a shock to many Chelsea supporters who had spent the past two and a half seasons being captivated by the play of the Spaniard. The one-way play style of Juan did not fit in with the mentality of Mourinho had for the squad and was deemed an unnecessary piece. Following the £37.1 million move to Manchester, Mata has had some trouble consistently staying in the starting eleven but does provide United with solid play.
In his first match against Chelsea since the departure, Mata will attempt to show Mourinho and other critics that he still is capable of turning in top-class performances.
