Liverpool FC forward Raheem Sterling has been the subject of much speculation in this transfer window, with his future almost certainly lying away from Anfield.

POPULAR: Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: Sell or Keep Oscar?

Even though the player has been trying to force a move, including asking to be left out of Liverpool’s pre-season training squad, it doesn’t seem like a deal is forthcoming so far.

This may have to do with the Merseyside club’s valuation. Brendan Rodgers is thought to be holding out for a bid in excess of £50million for the forward. With Manchester City front-runners to land the Englishman’s signature, and Chelsea somewhat interested as well, I thought that it would be a good idea to take a look at what else you could buy for that amount of money…

Next: Beer. A lot of beer.

Beer

I like beer. I presume that you may also like beer. If I had £50million to spend, I would most likely buy some beer.

“Oi Aj. What’s that you got there?”
“What? This? *points to beer*”
“Yeah, that.”
“Well it’s a beer.”
“Of course”

I don’t know from where you might be reading this, but here in the United Kingdom, that much money would buy me around 12.5 million pints of beer. I’m not going to lie, that’s a lot of beer. If you called your mates over it would probably last you a good week or so.

I’ve even been so kind as to give you an American equivalent. Converting £50m into dollars, then looking up the price of Budweiser at a Walmart somewhere in New York City, you could buy over 8.5 million 12 packs of Buds. So that’s over 100 million standard bottles.

GRAB SOME BUDS

Or whatever you fellas say.

Obviously please drink responsibly…

Raheem Sterlings Plural

Why spend £50million on one Raheem Sterling, when you can buy several?

Taking the price from the official SoccerStarz shop, you can buy over 12.5 million mini Raheem Sterling figurines. One living Sterling requires feeding and looking after, 12.5 million plastic ones require none of that.

It also means that if one gets ‘injured’, there’s an identical replacement waiting in the wings.

Don’t know why Man City haven’t thought of this yet…

Sheffield Wednesday

Following a similar model, why spend £50m on one player when you can buy a decent football club, almost two times over?

Championship side Sheffield Wednesday were sold earlier this year for a reported £30m to a Thai company. This means that instead of investing in a player who hasn’t won anything yet, you can buy a 3-time FA Cup winner, and still have money left in the bank. And with that get multiple players, a full back-room staff and everything else that goes with it too.

I know which option I would choose.

One FIFA World Cup Vote

Where do you live? In the middle of nowhere? Doesn’t matter! Just buy your way into hosting the FIFA World Cup instead!

Why not bring the World Cup to your home? (Quite literally your home. I mean you could probably stage it in your back-garden if you coughed up enough.) You can get all this instead of a whiny Englishman.

Having said that, £50m might not be enough to bribe all the officials, but it will get you some of the way there. Drive and determination will do the rest.
