Chelsea predicted XI vs. West Ham: Should Chelsea stick to the 4-3-3?
N’Golo Kante (No. 7) Defensive midfielder, France
N’Golo Kante has been very good this season, and the match against Wolves saw him at his best. He kept the Blues in the game for as long as they were. The Frenchman was perhaps the only midfielder who played up to standard against Wolves. It goes without saying though that he’s the first name on the teamsheet for Chelsea in a big match. The Blues are chasing a win after dropping their last two and nobody gives them more of a chance to get back to form than Kante, especially against the lethal and in-form midfield of West Ham. He’s returning to the Kante we all know and love, we should all be thankful for that.
Mason Mount (No. 19) Central midfielder, England
Mason Mount has been one of Chelsea’s best performers and the best creator from the middle of the park this season. He has been consistent, the last two games are just evidence that the team is not where they’re supposed to be, development wise. Mount does need to get more involved the Blues want any chance at raising their goal tally though.
Kai Havertz (No. 29) Central midfielder, Germany
This one may come as a surprise, only because Havertz has been playing poorly lately. However, if it is true that it is mainly due to lack of fitness from the COVID-19 episode, a six-day rest might be just what the young German needs. Lampard has had some injuries to a few key players and therefore, dropping certain players would have been more difficult recently. The gaffer is likely to give Havertz another go seeing as he was rested considerably after the last game. Havertz’s performances should get better with the rest he’s had.
