2. Mason Mount is the heart and soul of this Chelsea squad

Mason Mount is an absolute machine. There is a reason why he continues to start every game for Chelsea and England. The Englishman just livens the pitch up and brings a whole new dimension to the team. His pressing is effective and his passes are always positive and tidy.

Another factor that highlights Mount’s importance is his key passes. Against West Ham, Mount made a total of four key passes. It shows that he is consistently making the passes in the right direction. What is even more impressive about Mount this season is that his defensive work rate has improved even more and he has been dropping deep to recover the ball and making tackles and interceptions.

Over the past few games, Mount had also started to show some great chemistry with Ben Chilwell as he used to drop into the space vacated by Chilwell to receive the ball and initiate an attack. Last night, Mount made a couple of brilliant interceptions and a number of tackles to recover the ball. Mount’s pass to find Pulisic for the final goal was a clear example of the quality of his passing range.

Chelsea is blessed to have Mason Mount as Kai Havertz is still struggling to find his feet in the physical Premier League and things have gotten even more difficult after his COVID bout. Mason Mount oozes passion and it is important that he is preserved from all the negativity as he is the heart and soul of the Chelsea squad.
