Chelsea, Liverpool Combined XI: 4-2-4 only has three Liverpool players
Mohammad Salah, Right Winger, Liverpool
Mohammad Salah, since his move to Liverpool, has been the best winger in the world for almost 5 years now. Every stat and eye test proves this. Since 2017-18, Mohammad Salah has been a regular competitor for Premier League Golden Boot, winning it in 2017-18 and 2018-19. Another player which came to Chelsea too early in his career and excelled after being sold. Mohammad Salah has made 205 appearances for the Reds, scoring an astonishing 126 goals and providing 49 assists. This depicts the regular goal-scoring ability and hunger to succeed for the club.
This season was also started with a bang by Mohammad Salah, already having three goal contributions in two games. This game will be very demanding for both teams. With Chelsea having the most improved defense and Liverpool having one of the best front-line in the world, this game has all the hallmarks to be a tactical battle of the giants.
Kai Havertz, Striker, Chelsea
The first season of Kai Havertz’s Chelsea career has been plagued with injuries at the worst possible times. Having already played under two managers, Kai Havertz has played as a central midfielder, Right-winger, attacking midfielder, and center forward. But has found his best form by playing as a false nine in Thomas Tuchel’s team. This was showcased by the German towards the end of the season by contributing to various goals and assists. Having played the majority of his career playing as an attacking midfielder, Kai Havertz possesses the knack of both scoring goals and assisting goals.
Despite Kai Havertz’s legendary status all but confirmed by scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final, the 22-year-old still has a lot to prove. The ability to finish off chances, making runs behind the defense and amazing ball-playing ability make Kai Havertz an exciting player for years and years to come.
Romelu Lukaku, Striker, Chelsea
Since his move from Chelsea in 2014, Romelu Lukaku has turned out to be one of the best strikers in the world. Romelu Lukaku, since his move in 2014, had played for three clubs, Everton, Manchester United, and Inter Milan. All of those moves have somewhat been successful for the clubs. Having scored a whole host of goals for every club Romelu Lukaku has played for, his most successful patch came in Inter Milan. Under Antonio Conte, Belgium’s highest goal scorer became the best player who can play with his back to goal.
For Inter Milan, Romelu Lukaku made 95 appearances in which the striker scored 64 goals and contributed to 16 assists. The vast improvement in his game helped Inter Milan win the Serie A last season after 10 years. Now, at Chelsea, it seems that Romelu Lukaku has a point to prove to everyone who doubted him at Manchester United or Chelsea. The improvement in Romelu Lukaku was evident against Arsenal but the real test for the Belgium striker will be at Anfield this Saturday.
Sadio Mane, Left Winger, Liverpool
Out of both Chelsea and Liverpool, everyone would agree with my choice of Sadio Mane as a left-winger. The Senegalese forward has been an exceptional buy for Liverpool. Since his move from Southampton, the winger has made 220 appearances for the Reds and contributed to 98 goals and 43 assists. Sadio Mane has been one of the most lethal striker of the ball. Saying that last season was seen as a down season for Sadio Mane in which he scored 16 goals and contributed to 9 assists. This just proves how highly everyone rates Sadio Mane as a player.
Having already opened his account for the season in the game against Burnley, Sadio Mane is a player everyone needs to keep an eye on. This game against Liverpool will be Chelsea’s most difficult game and the defense would need to prove themselves again.
