Cesar Azpilicueta (Right Wingback): 7/10

The Spain international had a very unfortunate start to the game as he was whacked by Sadio Mane’s elbow in the opening 15 seconds of the game. Mane turned out to be Azpilicueta’s biggest threat and even got the better of the Spaniard sometimes but his work rate could not be questioned. Busy throughout the night but put in a proper shift.

N’Golo Kante (Central Midfielder): 8/10

The French midfielder was the dominant force in the midfield throughout the game. It was N’Golo Kante’s clever pass forward which put Christian Pulisic through to level the game in the first half. Apart from his impressive tackles and interceptions in the midfield, it was very impressive to see how good Kante has become in creating chances in the final third part of the pitch.

Mateo Kovacic (Central Midfielder): 9/10

Mateo Kovacic was the best Chelsea player on the pitch today. The Croatian international in the first half did put the team under some pressure by giving away the ball easily or by making the wrong pass but scored an outrageous goal to get Chelsea back in the game. His goal brought in some much-needed belief in the team after being down by two goals. Throughout the game Kovacic looked energetic and carried the ball well, being a menace to the Liverpool defense.

Marcos Alonso (Left Wingback): 7/10

Right from the get-go, it was clearly evident that Marcos Alonso was no match to Mohammed Salah and it was clear as day throughout the game too. For Liverpool’s second goal, the Spaniard was completely sold by the Egyptian international. But to Alonso’s credit, he did play well attacking wise crossing the ball many times and making some good runs inside the opponent’s box. Despite all that, the team needs a new wingback asap.
