Chelsea vs Tottenham predicted XI: 3-4-1-2 for the Lukaku redemption
Romelu Lukaku (No. 9) Right striker, Belgium
Romelu Lukaku has been at the epicenter of a storm caused by nothing but this own indiscretion. He seems to have realized his mistake and apologized to his teammates and his coach. What would become of his relationship with the fans now remains to be seen. Lukaku, though, should remember that goals solve many problems. His performances will be even more scrutinized than they were before, and for every game he doesn’t score, there’s likely to be an unusually high level of irritation in the fanbase. Unfortunately, this is not something he’ll be able to avoid, all he needs to do is put his head down, work hard and score goals.
Hakim Ziyech (No. 22) Central attacking midfielder, Morocco
Hakim Ziyech has been missing from the line-up and Tuchel cited a minor injury. However, it seems the Moroccan has since recovered and it sure seems like Chelsea could use a Ziyech in the line-up right about now. According to Understat, for players who have played up to 500 league minutes, Ziyech ranks first for expected assists (xA) per 90 at 0.34. Ziyech’s numbers clearly show that all he needs is game time. Many think Ziyech hasn’t hit the heights he reached in Ajax because he doesn’t get time on the ball at Chelsea, yet he just needs to play more. He created two big chances against Leicester City in 28 minutes and created another two big chances against Leeds United. Game time is all he needs.
Timo Werner (No. 11) Left striker, Germany
Timo Werner has finally returned to training. The German has shown that he’s top of his class when it comes to moving and shifting opposition defenses around. Werner could be the missing piece in Chelsea attack. Yes, he misses big chances, but he’s not doing anything he wasn’t doing at Leipzig. However, his Chelsea teammates aren’t doing much of what Werner’s Leipzig teammates did. There’s a reason Werner got on the end of the majority of Chelsea’s clear cut chances
