We here at The Pride of London were extremely happy at our favorite manager Jose Mourinho reaching the century mark of Premiership wins in record timewith the victory of Manchester United. The fact that it came against such a bitter rival only made it all that much sweeter. Here are a few noteworthy stats and facts about The Special One’s very special record.

  • Mourinho reached 100 wins in just 142 Premiership matches, faster than any other manager
  • Jose is the 15th manager to reach the 100 win milestone
  • Eidur Gudjohnsen scored the winner for Chelsea against United in August 2004, Mourinho’s first Premier League victory
  • Joe Cole scored the only goal against Birmingham City in Jose’s first Premiership away victory
  • Chelsea has defeated Portsmouth seven times in the Premiership, the most of any club
  • Mourinho has notched 12 victories against the other members of the old “Big 4” clubs in England (Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United)

Jose Mourinho has a lot of work to do to climb the list of winningest managers in EPL history, in terms of total victories, not winning percentage. The list of managers and their victories below:

In terms of pure winning percentage, Jose seems to be doing fine for himself even before this current stint. Percentages below were calculate prior to the 2013/14 season:

Managers like Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger enjoyed or are currently enjoying long tenures with their respective clubs, giving them a sizable advantage over Mourinho. However Mourinho does seem to be in it for the long run in his second Chelsea stint and if his collective tenure is close to what Alex Ferguson enjoyed, then there is little doubt he will be at or near the top of the total wins list.
