Inter Milan Owner Denies Fernando Torres Links

Ever since Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir took over Inter Milan, the rumors of who the Nerazzurri will add over the summer have swirled. Inter recently confirmed that they will add Manchester United Nemanja Vidic when the window opens as he will be out of contract, but names like Fernando Torres and Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez have also been discussed in the media. The move for Fernando Torres is supposedly at a transfer of £20 million but only if the Spanish striker would take a pay cut to join the Italian club.

While that sounds like a dream scenario for Chelsea supporters, and perhaps Torres himself who can be an unquestioned number one striker again, Thorir has recently come out and thrown cold water on the rumors. Thorir spoke on the rumors and said:

"“At the end of the season we will evaluate everything, both the young players and the more experienced ones. We want to build a strong squad for the future with a view not just to next season but to the next three. I think he Hernandez is a good player. But we haven’t spoken to either him or Fernando Torres.”"

Torres and Hernandez are both in similar positions in terms of not being their club’s first choice striker and both will supposedly be available come summer time. The main stumbling block for Torres will be his wages because not many clubs can afford the astronomical wages he receives even if they are ready to give Chelsea a reasonable transfer fee. If Thorir is indeed looking for a big name striker that can be had on the cheap, at least in terms of transfer fees, then there is little doubt Chelsea would be willing to sell the Spaniard.
