Chelsea FC striker Fernando Torres suffered a groin injury during the warmup to the Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday and was pulled from the starting lineup in favor of Samuel Eto’o. Torres was initially diagnosed with a groin pull and was expected to miss two to three weeks of game action during his recovery. In today’s press conference, manager Jose Mourinho revealed that Torres has recovered ahead of schedule and may feature in tomorrow’s match against Aston Villa. This comes at an especially crucial time as they also face Galatasaray SK on Tuesday and Arsenal the following weekend.

Jose Mourinho on Torres’s recovery and status:

"“Fernando is much, much better. Maybe I take him tomorrow. Maybe I don’t take him and I try everything for Tuesday.”"

Mourinho has previously stated that Eto’o is Chelsea’s best striker but only at home so it will be interesting to see who he starts tomorrow at Villa Park. Will it be the possibly still injured and not 100% recovered Fernando Torres, or will it be the Senegalese striker Demba Ba who scored twice last weekend against Tottenham.

Ba has not featured much in the Premier League this season but his two goals may be enough for him to land the starting position and Torres will likely come off the bench. The match against Galatasaray is at Stamford Bridge so it would make sense for him to start Samuel Eto’o at home as he has done all season. Regardless of who starts at forward they will look to continue the fine run of form that Chelsea strikers have enjoyed in recent weeks.
