Premier League Title Race Tightens

The Barclay’s Premier League title race tightened this weekend as Manchester City kept the pressure on Chelsea FC. If Manchester City were to win out the rest of their games in hand, they would win the title. They will have a congested fixture schedule as three of their games were moved due to their progression in the FA Cup and League Cup competitions. On Tuesday March 25th, Manchester City will travel to the home of the current champions Manchester United at Old Trafford. Another tough match will follow on Saturday as they face Arsenal away.

On the upside for the Citizens, and not so much for Cheslea, five out of their remaining ten games will be at the Etihad. City have dropped few points at home this year but have lost “easy” games against Sunderland and Wigan Athletic with the Wigan loss coming at home in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Last weekend’s loss by Chelsea against Aston Villa allowed Man City to cut the lead at the top. Chelsea will be hoping that Man City drop points down the stretch. Chelsea will also have to do deal with a congested fixture schedule as their Champions League quarter-final matches against PSG will take place in early April. Mourinho will also have to continue to decide which senior players to rotate and rest on the weekend in the Premier League.

It should be a fun and exciting finish to the Premier League title as each match as become more and more important. This year will see one of the closest finishes to decide the trophy as there are three genuine contenders for the title. Even a draw at this stage in the upcoming stretch will be hurtful to either club’s chances to win the title and as we have seen
