Here is some good news for you Chelsea FC fans in Houston, your star defensive end for the Houston Texans J.J. Watt has officially become a fan of the Blues. Watt posted on his Twitter account that he was looking for a football club to follow and he was inundated with tweets from Chelsea supporters clubs all over the United States. Watt tweeted that he was “Learning about the @premierleague and becoming a fan. Chelsea gear was the first apparel I received, so I rep it! Who’s the team to follow?”.

Whatever the club sent him and the supporters told him must have stuck because he soon posted this picture featuring some sweet Chelsea gear:

Since then, JJ Watt has been posting pictures of himself on his Twitter account wearing Chelsea FC shirts when going out on the town. He even posted a celebratory status after the Blues made their comeback against PSG on Tuesday which must have helped Watt deal with the disappointment of his University of Wisconsin Badgers missing out on the NCAA Tournament title game.

Watt later posted the following photo on his Instagram of a gift he received from Chelsea:

First Chelsea had the Brooklyn Nets stop by Stamford Bridge and now they have an NFL star playing in the heart of Texas rooting them on. The game of soccer and the status and profile of the European clubs is rising in the United States and Watt’s new found fanhood is a great example of that. Keep on cheering for Chelsea and we’ll keep cheering for you JJ!
