chelsea FC youngster and loanee at Middlesbrough Kenneth Omeruo has reportedly rejected the new deal offered to him by the Blues and is also reportedly asking for them to double the size of the contract. Omeruo has spent a fine season on loan at the Yorkshire club and has seen his stock rise in English football with every masterful performance at centerback.

The Nigerian is also already a full international for the Super Eagles and has already been named to the World Cup squad and will likely start at he heart of defense. At the age of 20 all of this makes Omeruo seem miles ahead of the other Chelsea prospects and gives him a bit more leverage in contract negotiations.

Kenneth Omeruo’s advisor Chika Akujobi reportedly told AfricanFootball.com the following:

"“We want them to double the offer, but they said they have a new policy for young players who have yet to break into their first-team and this ensures they do not go overboard with their offers. But Kenneth has already proved himself in the English Championship which is even more forceful and physical than the English Premier League, which is more about tactics. Chelsea have to come up and they have to do so soon, before the club go on summer holidays.”"

While Akujobi does make a valid point about Omeruo’s experience in the Championship and that division being more physical than the Premier League, the youngster still has to be tested at the top flight. He has performed very well at the international level but the Premier League is the fastest and most physical league in the world. Playing in the Premier League week in and week out is more demanding than anything Omeruo may have seen in the Championship. He will one day get a big contract but he has to earn it just like every other Chelsea prospect.
