ESPN Ranks Chelsea FC’s Eden Hazard The 10th Best Player At World Cup

Using a survey system across is global networks, ESPN has ranked Chelsea FC’s Eden Hazard as the 10th best player in the World Cup.ESPN says that it ranked the Top 50 players “based on an extensive survey of ESPN writers, editors and TV analysts across all regions (ESPN FC, ESPN Argentina, ESPN Brazil, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Mexico)” and that it will reveal five every day until the World Cup begins.

Eden Hazard enjoyed a fine first season under new manager Jose Mourinho. He has grown as a player from simply being an attacker with flair to someone who works hard defensively as well. That area could use some improvement but that will come with age and maturity as he continues to grow in to the player many believe that he can be.

Here is what ESPN had to say about Eden Hazard:

No. 10 Eden Hazard, Chelsea/Belgium

Why he’s ranked: Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho promoted the talents of this mercurial midfield operator with increasing gusto as the Premier League season edged toward a conclusion and with good reason. Voted the Young Player of the Year in England, 23-year-old Hazard offered goals, assists and flashes of brilliance all season. Belgium will be hoping for more of the same from him this summer.

Key stat: Tied for the EPL lead in chances created this season (92) while ranking in the top 15 in both goals (14) and assists (7).

What the experts say: “Belgium have a number of talented attackers, but there’s little doubt Eden Hazard is the star. Capable of assisting and scoring, passing and dribbling, Eden does everything with tremendous speed and manages to combine trickery with efficiency too. Marc Wilmots has plenty of options going forward, but Hazard is assured of his place on the left flank.” — Michael Cox

Eden Hazard is Belgium and Chelsea’s brightest star. As he goes so does the rest of his team for both club and country. He is quickly becoming a household name and if Jose Mourinho is right, his name will one day be mentioned alongside the Messis and Cristiano Ronaldos of the world.
