Reports from the German media suggest that Chelsea FC have decided to send youngster Thorgan Hazard on loan to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach next season. The reports claim that Shalke and VFL Wolfsburg, where Kevin De Bruyne currently resides, were also interested in the stellar young winger but they were not chosen for whatever reason.

Thorgan Hazard spent last season on loan at Belgian Jupiler League side Zulte Wargerem and was voted the league’s player of the year. The season was very eventful and at one point Hazard was selected as the club’s captain, something absolutely unheard of for a loan player. He even threatened to leave the club and head to rival club Anderlecht but thankfully Thorgan Hazard stayed put and ended up having a terrific season for Wargerem.

Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl told the Rheinischen Post:

"“We were always going to make an attacking signing, no matter what the situation is with Luuk de Jong and Peniel Mlapa, and this will be Thorgan Hazard. We have exchanged contracts with Chelsea and we have agreed with Thorgan, we have all agreed and now just need to sign the contracts.”Source: GetWestLondon.co.uk"

This is a very good step in the right direction for the younger Hazard brother as of course the Bundesliga is a big step from the Belgian league. Borussia Monchengladbach is a fantastic club with a rich history and is the current home of United States defender Fabian Johnson. Monchengladbach also finished sixth in the Bundesliga last season and are in the UEFA Europa League playoff round and that level of football will also be wonderful experience for the young winger. If Thorgan Hazard plans to find a place in the Chelsea starting eleven then proving himself at the Bundesliga level will be the best way to make his intentions known.
