Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard announced his retirement from international football today and of course from the England captaincy. Many people have been debating which England player should take over the captaincy but more are simply having a laugh at old Stevie G. For Chelsea fans, Steven Gerrard had the misfortune of taking over the captaincy after it was taken from John Terry so he is not very popular.
Add to that his pseudo-legendary status among Liverpool supporters despite putting in a transfer request and you get a player who is not very popular at Stamford Bridge. Here are some of the best reactions from Chelsea fans and otherwise to Steven Gerrard’s retirement from international football.
