Didier Drogba was asked about his legendary status at Chelsea FC and was asked about his opinion on Frank Lampard possibly facing his old club on Sunday. Thankfully Drogba said exactly what many of us have been feeling since the day Frank Lampard announced that he would be going on loan to Manchester City. Lampard is and always will be a legend at Chelsea no matter what he does or who he plays for from here on out.

Frank Lampard spent 13 years at Chelsea and in the process of winning a ridiculous amount of trophies, he became the greatest ever midfielder to call Stamford Bridge home. Spending six months at a rival club that isn’t even really a rival in the true sense of the word does not erase any of that or diminish it in the slightest. He delighted the fans at Stamford Bridge and shared his greatest triumphs and heartbreaks with us and gave us moments we will never forget.

"“It is a pity that I come back and he is not here anymore but for sure I will be happy to see him again. I know for sure that the reaction [from the Chelsea fans] will be good. It doesn’t matter the team he is playing for, he still belongs to us, he is a Chelsea player for what he did, he is part of the history of the club. We are going to go there to try to win like we have been trying to win every game this season.”-Didier DrogbaSource: ChelseaFC.com"

If Frank Lampard does indeed face off against Chelsea this Sunday then he will surely get a rousing ovation from the away fans at the Etihad. Even if he scores the winner with one of his trademark late runs in to the box, Chelsea fans will not begrudge him the goal and we will applaud him for a job well done and move on. Ideally he would remain on the bench or come on as a late substitute when the match is well in hand for the Blues to receive the ovation he deserves.
