Silva is a midfielder in the Sami Khedira mold who is more comfortable sitting in front of defense. He has also been compared to Bayern Munich’s Xabi Alonso who is also more of a deep lying midfielder.

"The 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder currently plays for Cruzeiro in Brazil’s top-flight. Although he was not featured in Brazil’s World Cup squad this summer, he has already helped lead his club to a league title in 2013. Early reports pinned Silva with a January move to Real Madrid, where he could fill the role of Sami Khedira, who is likely to move away from the Bernabeu during the transfer window. Now it looks like Jose Mourinho and Chelsea may be swooping in on the young Brazilian midfielder. Reports out of Spain are saying Mourinho is keen on bringing Silva to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea have become the top contender to sign Silva after swooping in on Madrid’s move.Although he hasn’t played outside of Brazil’s domestic league, Silva has already caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the world. Playing in a central role, Silva controls the tempo of the midfield while spraying the ball around the pitch, often drawing comparisons to Xabi Alonso and, of course, Kaka.Source: Pro Soccer Talk"

Young Brazilians like Oscar and Lucas Moura have proven once again that youngsters from the football mad nation can be successful in the European top flight. Players like Lucas Silva can look to these stars as examples and motivation to make the move here at a younger age than they normally would have. Lucas Silva is still a mostly unknown commodity but if he is good enough to wear the Chelsea FC shirt then Jose Mourinho and Michael Emenalo should make every effort to sign him up.
