It is safe to say that Chelsea have one of the most expensive squads in all of Europe. The results have not backed up the investment so far but considering their strategy of signing only youngsters, it is probably understandable that it is taking some time. We have seen plenty of positive signs of maturity in this team recently though. And while there are going to be downs from time to time, like the defeat at the hands of Leeds United at the weekend, the overall curve is upwards.

Of course, there have been plenty of hits and misses in terms of transfers along the way. While there have been success stories like Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Estevao, quite a few have failed to live up to the expectations as well.

One such player is Mykhailo Mudryk. He was signed from Shakhtar for a transfer package in the region of €100 million but was never able to showcase that kind of ability on the pitch.

And then things somehow got worse as he was banned from playing football due to doping charges. There have been rumours though that he is close to a return, but it might not be an immediate comeback in the blue jersey of Chelsea.

As reported by Fichajes, instead of cutting ties completely, Chelsea have opted for a more constructive approach. The club's plan involves loaning Mudryk to Strasbourg.

Of course, Strasbourg are also part of the BlueCo group. The hope is that Mudruk could find there a more welcoming environment, less media pressure, and quality playing time to regain his form and fitness.

Mudryk does seem like the kind of player who thrives on confidence. So, it might be a good move to send him on loan to Strasbourg at this point rather than try to bring him straight back into the fold for Chelsea after such a long period of inacitivity.
