Mourinho to Dispute FA Charges

Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho revealed today in his pre-match press conference that he will be challenging the FA’s ruling of improper conduct during last weekend’s match against Aston Villa. The FA charged Mourinho because he left his technical area and went on to the field of play during the scrum that followed Chris Foy’s sending off of Chelsea midfielder Ramires.

Mourinho was on the field trying to speak with the referee but was sent to the stands with no explanation of the red card or why he was sent off. It was the latest twist in a baffling day for Chris Foy as he consistently made terrible decisions through the match. Mourinho was as bewildered as the rest of us as he slowly made his way off the field and to the stands.

Mourinho was asked if he would accept the charges and what his defense would be:

"“I don’t accept the charges, I have a meeting on Monday and I have to make my defence privately, not with you. For you it is enough to know for obvious reasons I don’t accept the charges.”"

It was thought that Mourinho would face a fine of around £10,000 for his actions and many were under the impression that he would simply accept the fine and move on but it may be the principle of the matter for the manager. He clearly feels he did no wrong and pointed to the fact that many other team personnel were on the field including Aston Villa midfielder Gabriel Agbonlahor. The FA should have known that the combatitive Mourinho would not go quietly in to the night and accept his punishment.
