Chelsea FC striker Demba Ba has been a distant third in the pecking order since the arrival of Samuel Eto’o to Stamford Bridge and he has admitted in an interview that his agent has been speaking to other clubs. Ba has long been rumored to be leaving Chelsea in the summer and there were even reports that a January move to Turkish club Trabzonspor was in the works. The reports claimed that Fernando Torres’s injury against Manchester United is what kept Ba at Chelsea and it appears he will be needed again as Eto’o picked up a hamstring injury against Arsenal on the weekend.
Demba Ba on his agent’s activities:
"“My agent has spoken to the club about a departure and he has started speaking with other clubs about a contract for next year. I hope we can find the best option possible. I’d like to stay in England. I like other leagues, too. I’d like to try the Italian league. That would be the best way to go out the door. If I leave with at least the title or the Champions League, that would be exceptional.”"
Ba has been a fine citizen of the club and has contributed some important goals in his time with chelsea, most notably his volley in the FA Cup replay last season against Manchester United. His brace against Tottenham was also well taken but he has yet to score any important goals for the Blues this season, mostly because he has not played much in important matches.
He may feature while Eto’o is recovering from his injury and he has the ability to contribute to the Chelsea cause but many fans would not be too bothered to see him go. He is a good rotational striker but was never good enough to lead the line at a top club like Chelsea. His personality and character though are what sets him apart and Chelsea fans will surely wish him the best as he moves to another club.
