Christophe Henrotay, the agent of Chelsea FC loanee Romelu Lukaku has confirmed that he has had talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential transfer to the London club. This is the latest in a string of controversies stirred up by Romelu Lukaku himself or people in his camp as they express their discontent with the Belgian’s current loan situation. Lukaku’s agent seems to be stirring things up in order to back Chelsea in to a corner so they are forced in to making a decision on the youngster but for them to sell the youngster to a rival when there are many other suitors is ridiculous.

Henrotay’s comments to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad:

"“I’m looking for a club for Romelu. And yes, I’ve talked to [Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy once, but that doesn’t mean Romelu will definitely join Spurs. That’s not a talking point at this moment. There aren’t 20 teams that can afford to buy Romelu. He won’t go from Everton to, let’s say, Swansea. There’s also a difference between Everton that plays against relegation and an Everton that fights for European football.”"

Earlier in the year, Lukaku stated that he needed Champions League football and with Spurs on the outside looking in of the top four, he will not be getting it if he heads to White Hart Lane. Frankly this whole Romelu Lukaku saga has been extremely frustrating. He is a fine striker at the Premier League level at only 20 years old and could have been the solution the problems Chelsea has at the position. Lukaku is not a world class striker yet but he could have definitely offered more to Chelsea than Fernando Torres or Demba Ba this season. He never should have left on loan and Chelsea should not sell him to anyone because finding a decent striker these days seems harder than ever.
