Chelsea FC: Eden Hazard Still In Doubt Against Atletico Madrid

“I wouldn’t say he is definitely out of the Atletico game at this stage, but he’s still a major doubt having not trained with the team as yet. For him to be considered for Tuesday he needs to train with the group very quickly. Normal procedure would be not to ask a player to play in a game if he hasn’t done any training prior to that. He has to train with the group in the next couple of days. If he’s not going to be available for Tuesday, if we can give him a better chance to be involved on Sunday against Liverpool, we’ll take that tack.”

All signs point to Hazard not being fit for the first leg where Chelsea will likely take a more defensive approach when they travel to Madrid. There is still the upcoming second leg the following week as well as a massive clash against Liverpool on Sunday. Even if winning the Premier League title is no longer feasible for the Blues, Jose Mourinho and the squad will look to play spoilers against a major rival. With all of this in mind it seems likely that Eden Hazard will not play on Tuesday in order to help him get fit in time for the final matches of the season.
