Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has been declared fit to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal tie at the Allianz Arena in Germany. The Welsh forward has been struggling with the flu and only came on as a late substitute in the first leg which Real Madrid won 1-0 courtesy of an early Karim Benzema goal. Cristiano Ronaldo has also been struggling with a hamstring injury but was able to start the first leg. His main contribution was setting up Fabio Coentrao who in turn assisted Benzema but Ronaldo also missed a golden chance to put Los Blancos up 2-0.
Gareth Bale on his injury and nerves before the game:
"“I feel good. I have had a few days training to recover and get going again. I am hoping to play tomorrow and looking forward to it. I am a little bit nervous, everyone gets a little nervous, It is such a big game, after all, but these are positive nerves. If you want to win trophies, you have to play against the big teams, the great teams.”“It has been a good season so far, we are happy to be in this position. There is still a lot to work to be one. We just go one game at a time. I do not feel we have qualified yet, we still have a very very hard game here against Bayern to come. It will be difficult game no matter what. The score is 1-0, which does not really make too much difference. We are looking forward to it.”"
The 24 year old Gareth Bale has seen his star rise to great heights since he joined Real Madrid in the summer. His career in Madrid was off to a bit of a slow start but he has since adjusted and adapted to a new league in a new country where he does not speak the language. The winning goal he scored in the Copa Del Rey was his real star turn in a Real Madrid shirt as he announced to the world that he is here to stay in Madrid. Bale will have to be at his best to help his side stave off Bayern Munich and advance to his first ever Champions League final.
