On May 19, Ashley Cole announced via Twitter that he would be leaving Chelsea FC after 8 loyal years of service to the club.

Cole fell down the pecking order this season due to the spectacular form of Cesar Azpilicueta but nonetheless, Cole performed exceptionally when he was named in the team as his performances at Atlético Madrid and at Liverpool show.

It has also become known that Cole looks to turn down a possible move to another Barclays Premier League team and move to a different European league to avoid Chelsea rivals out of respect for the club and the fans.

AC Milan and AS Monaco are two early names that have come about as suitors for the 33-year-old left-back who still has a lot of first-team football left in him.

A possible return to Arsenal could be on the cards as manager Arsène Wegner said he would bring back Cole “if needed.”

Speculation about a possible exit from the club this summer was swirling after Cole was spotted with tears in his eyes during the lap-of-honor following the Norwich City game at the Bridge, which will have been Cole’s final home game in a Chelsea shirt.

Having made his retirement from international football earlier this month as well, it will be interesting to see where Cole will end up next and how he will perform as he can almost walk into any team and immediately become a member of the Starting XI.

I’m sure many, if not all Chelsea fans will be upset to see him depart the club following 338 appearances.

To quell your sadness, let’s all take a moment to remember his brilliant interview following the Champions League triumph.
