Chelsea FC fans were delighted to hear club captain, leader and legend John Terry had agreed to a one year contract extension with the London club, and so were many of the club’s players. The Chelsea TV crew spoke with German international Andre Schurrle about his first season at Stamford Bridge, and among other things the 23 year old forward had to say, he had high praise for the Chelsea captain. Schurrle referred to John Terry as “the heart of Chelsea”, and that the 33 year old centreback was connected with the club and city like no other.

Andre Schurrle also spoke highly of the Chelsea supporters in his first season, which saw the Blues finish 3rd in England and reach the semifinals of the UEFA Champions league, saying he enjoys connecting with the supporters on social media and that they were a large part in his decision to join a club like Chelsea. Schurrle also spoke of his belief that there are bigger and better things for the club ahead.

On a personal level, Schurrle must be enjoying what his first term in SW6 has brought, as his play for Chelsea seemed to cement a call up for the German national side that will fly to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Andre Schurrle scored 8 goals in 30 league appearances, including a brace against Stoke and hat trick against Fulham and provided many crucial passes for other goals throughout the campaign while providing bursts of energy throughout the park.

Andre Schürrle is the type of hard working, counter attacking forward the Jose Mourinho has coveted throughout his career, and given what he saw of him this season there is little doubt that he will be making an impact on the club for years to come.
