Ahead of the Champions League final, Chelsea FC loanee Thibaut Courtois talked to BBC about not wanting to backup Petr Cech and how strange it was eliminating his parent club from the Champions League. The young keeper has experienced tremendous success with his loan club Atletico Madrid including a UEFA Super Cup, Europa League, a La Liga title, and a chance at the Champions League title this Saturday.

If Thibaut Courtois does indeed return to Chelsea next season, he will come in with an unbelievable amount of trophies gained from a loan spell. The irony of course being that two of which may come directly at the expense of his parent club.

Courtois, never one to bite his tongue, spoke about his future at Chelsea and how he does not want to share time with Petr Cech:

"“The two of us want to play everything. Nobody will be happy to play in only the League Cup or FA Cup. Things are unclear at the moment. I have the biggest respect for Petr Cech. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world so I think putting him and me in the same team is not the healthiest thing in the world. We will see in the next week if we can sit together with Chelsea to find something for next year, find out what they want, what my desire is. We will see.”"

He also spoke about how muted his celebrations were after defeating Chelsea in the Champions League as well as what the gameplan will be against Real Madrid:

"“It was strange and weird knocking out Chelsea. Normally when you win a semi-final you celebrate really hard but I didn’t do it because Chelsea bought me and gave me the opportunity to play for Atletico for three years.“We know these are top players and it will not be easy. I think we will play the same game as we always do. There are some teams that play more defensive against us and we found it more difficult to make the game. Against Real Madrid they will have to come more. We will have to defend well and play more on the counter-attack.”"

It is obvious that Courtois is a tremendously talented keeper and it would be a shame if his talents are spent winning trophies for another team for one more year. He may not be happy about sharing time with Petr Cech for now but Chelsea have to do what is best for the club and if that means using two keepers then so be it. Courtois has won a lot with Atletico Madrid and has achieved quite a bit in his young career but he has to learn to put his club before his own desires.
