Roberto Mancini Gives Didier Drogba A Glowing Endorsement

Galatasaray manager gave Didier Drogba a glowing endorsement after the striker was linked to Serie A champions Juventus. Drogba has said earlier this week that he would like to continue playing in the Champions League if possible, something he would not get with Gala after they finished third in the Turkish league. The striker has been linked to both AS Roma and Juventus as well as the Seattle Sounders of the MLS but he seems to prefer playing in Europe.

More from Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours

Drogba has clearly slowed down a bit from the days where he used to terrorize Premier League defenses but he can still be a goalscoring threat, even at the Champions League. If he is surrounded by better talent, which he will be at Juventus, then he can continue to use his physicality and technical ability to continue scoring goals in Europe.

Roberto Mancini on Didier Drogba:

"“It would be a great signing if Juve were to get Drogba. I have coached Drogba this season and for me it has only been a pleasure to do it.He is a great champion. I can tell you I really have been surprised by Drogba. He is an extraordinary person. He has always conducted himself well for me, from the first to the last minute. He has been a tower of strength for my team this season. He would be a great and important reinforcement for Juve, especially when you consider Juve want to give the Champions League a good go. Drogba can offer a lot from this point of view. In Italy he can too, but especially in Europe. He is a leader, and for a Coach it is vital to have those types of players.”"

For all the talk of Drogba’s diva tendencies, has there ever been a manager who has had something negative to say about the Ivorian? He is the consummate professional off the field, and while he has lost his cool on the pitch on occasion, he is still one of football’s gentlemen. Juventus would be honored with the privilege of having Didier Drogba wearing their kit and they will gain a new legion of supporters if they make that move happen.
