Chelsea FC are expected to increase their bid for Atlético Madrid’s left-back Filipe Luís as they look to find a replacement for the departing Ashley Cole.
The club is expected to offer the Brazilian defender a wage of £78,000 a week to convince him to move to Stamford Bridge after he gave an interview following the Champions League defeat in which he said he said he was happy to remain at Atlético and intended to see out the final three years of his contract.

“I have a contract for three more years,” Luís said. “My thought is to continue.”
“We have to lift our heads high after the Champions League final defeat and think about the next goal.”
Even with his superb form this year for Atlético, Luis found his name off Brazil’s 23-man roster for the World Cup, which surprised many.
Along with Luís, Luke Shaw has been tabbed as Cole’s replacement, but Manchester United’s £27 million bid for the Southampton youngster may have priced Chelsea out of the race for him as they are expected to buy several players this summer.
Even with César Azpilicueta’s brilliant season, Chelsea lacks an experienced, natural left-back as the futures of Ryan Bertrand and Patrick van Aanholt are up in the air as both spent the season on loan at Aston Villa and Vitesse respectively.
Luís would be a great addition to one of the best defenses in Europe and it would allow for Azpilicueta to move back to his natural right-back position and should Luís move to Chelsea, it will also allow for more depth and rotation for the back four.
