David Luiz had scored in both legs of the Europa League tie against Basel with the first coming from a nicely placed free kick to win the first leg for Chelsea. The second goal came when the tie was well in hand for the Blues but it was a truly spectacular strike by the Brazilian to guarantee Chelsea a spot in the Europa League final.

Eden Hazard was speeding down the right side of the box before pausing and finding Frank Lampard free at the top. He crossed it to Lampard who controlled it and laid it off to David Luiz who unleashed a venomous shot with his “weaker” left foot. The ball rocketed in to the upper corner and the keeper was once again rooted to the spot. It was not the most important goal Luiz scored for Chelsea but it was a spectacular one.
