Reports: Paul Pogba Top Transfer Target for Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC have reportedly already agreed to a deal with former Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa to join the Blues in England next season, and so the next target on Jose Mourinho’s summer shopping list appears to be a central midfielder. The player at the top of that list is rumored to be Juventus man Paul Pogba.
Pogba, 21, is a full French international and will most likely see action in Brazil with Les Blues in this summer’s World Cup. The player is expected to be pursued by French Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and the Champions League winners Real Madrid as well however there is no guarantee the player will agree to leave.

Reports from Turin also indicated the player would like to stay at Juventus, where the The Old Lady have captured won the

the last 3 seasons. Should the transfer of Pogba become impossible, the rumors are that the other options on the list for a central midfielder are Atletico Madrid’s Koke, or Spurs midfielder Paulinho. The goal is to acquire a world class midfielder to pair alongside Nemanja Matic, who was undoubtedly the Chelsea purchase of the season last year.
I don’t expect any deal to be done prior to the World Cup, there is just too much risk in agreeing to purchase a player who could suffer a damaging injury or show themselves to be a flash of the pan when placed against tough opposition internationally. In the wake of the sale of David Luiz to PSG I think the acquisition of Pogba would be brilliant for Chelsea, if the price isn’t too steep. The club made a very good financial decision on the Luiz sale, and with the Financial Fair Play regulations seemingly enforced now, the proper price for any player is key.
