Video Of The Day: Chelsea FC Youth Player Lewis Baker Season Highlights

Chelsea FC youth player Lewis Baker has lit up the scoring charts for the Blues and England youth teams this season. Baker plays primarily for the U21 team but made his first team debut as a substitute against Derby County in Januaray 2014. The youngster joined Chelsea Football Club at age nine from Luton Town in 2005 and has shined for the club at all the youth levels ever since.

Lewis Baker made his debut in August of the 2010/11 season and scored his first goal against MK Dons in March 2011. He became a regular in the youth team for the 2011/12 season and has grown in to a midfielder that can play across all three attacking positions. He helped lead his squad to the 2011/12 FA Youth Cup championship and his seven goals that seasons helped him earn the reognition of the Chelsea reserve team coach Dermot Drummy.

Baker has also served as captain for the 2012-13 FA Youth Cup and 2012-13 NextGen Series campaigns which both ended in heartbreak after Chelsea lost in the final for both competitions. He established himself as one of Chelsea’s players of the season at the youth level and would continue scoring and assisting goals in bunches.

His form in the youth teams was rewarded with a first team appearance in the FA Cup against Derby County where he played the last ten minutes of the match. Baker also lead the Chelsea U21s to the 2013/14 Under-21 Premier League title by scoring 13 goals in the league and the winning goal in the final against Manchester United.

Lewis Baker is one of many young stars in the Chelsea youth setup who are being marked to make their impact for the first team as well. Baker is just 19 years old and a lot can happen between now and if/when he becomes a first team regular but there is no doubt that he has the talent to make that happen.
