While Romelu Lukaku gives interviews that leave Chelsea FC fans agonized about the Belgian’s future with the club, the one young Belgian that has been shining at Chelsea, Eden Hazard, gave an interview that all fans will love to read.
Media outlet Dernière Heure has the full interview, which can’t be accessed unless you are a paid subscriber, but quotes from the full interview have been published by both the Daily Mail and the Express.
Hazard thankfully has confirmed that he is indeed committed to his future at Chelsea, which should officially squash any rumors of him moving to France to play for PSG.
“I am staying at Chelsea, 100 percent sure,” Hazard said. “Of course in football you never know, but I am under contract with Chelsea and I want to stay there.”
“But the fact that Chelsea have offered me a new deal means that they have got a lot of confidence in me, that I can do a good job, and that they can count on me.”
It was interesting to see that Hazard also said in his interview that PSG had never reached out to him personally, especially with the speculation that had surrounded the possible move.
It’s good to see that the rift that Hazard had with Mourinho following the Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid hasn’t affected his morale at the club, where he looks to improve on a stellar campaign which saw him be named to the PFA Team of the Year and won Chelsea Player of the Year.
I am very happy to see that Chelsea is looking to move quickly with a contract extension for Hazard, as he has been nothing short of brilliant in his two seasons with the club. There is no doubt that Hazard is the cornerstone for the future success that Chelsea hopes for.
