Chelsea FC’s Samuel Eto’o Promises To Quiet His Critics

Chelsea FC and Cameroon forward Samuel Eto’o has promised to use this World Cup as a chance to quiet his critics despite missing the second match with a knee injury. The Cameroon squad were supposedly on the verge of missing the World Cup because they had not received their bonuses for qualifying so they did not come to Brazil on the wings of good vibes. The next controversy is Samuel Eto’o’s knee injury which ruled him out of the Indomitable Lions’ second World Cup match against Croatia.

More from World Cup

Cameroon embarrassed themselves on the World Cup stage with the performance they put on against Croatia. It was not so much the play that was embarrassing, but Alex Song’s rash red card and Benoit Assou-Ekotto’s headbutt on a teammate that defined the night for them. They looked slow and unorganized particularly for Mario Mandzukic’s second goal that was made possible by a lazy defender playing him onside.

Samuel Eto’o on his critics:

"“I would like to tell you what I think but I think that the most important thing is tomorrow’s game and our World Cup. I hope it won’t stop too early as many people want it to But be sure that after the World Cup, all the people that attacked me, I will answer them and I will give names of those who are behind some controversies. I want to make the Cameroon people understand, those who love or don’t love this country. Then I will take my personal decision.”Source: FourFourTwo.com"

After the embarrassing defeat against Croatia, Eto’o will only have one more chance to redeem himself at this year’s World Cup. Unfortunately for him and the rest of the Cameroon squad, it will be against a Brazil side that needs to win, and win by a few goals, to ensure that they top the group. It will be no easy task for the Indomitable Lions as they look to return home with the slightest bit of dignity and make their fans forget the shellacking they received from Croatia.
