Chelsea FC: Wallace (Finally) Moving On Loan To Vitesse Arnhem

Chelsea FC’s young Brazilian right back Wallace has been loaned out to unofficial feeder club in the Netherlands Eredevisie Vitesse Arnhem after spending an unsuccessful season at Inter Milan. The youngster chose to go to Inter Milan because it is a “big club” and he said that he “did not want to go to Holland, I wanted a big club to put myself on display and not stay in obscurity in a club without tradition”. That comment might be hard for Vitesse fans to swallow but in his defenses most kids in Brazil have probably never heard of Vitesse Arnhem.

The youngster had little trouble acclimating to Milan but he was never able to make an impact on the pitch. Wallace did not start any games and only made three substitute appearances for the Nerazzuri. He may have been at a big club but he was as irrelevant as the clubs he described as “without tradition” he did not want to go to.

The statement from the Chelsea official website:

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm Wallace will join Vitesse Arnhem on a season-long loan. The attacking right-back will spend the 2014/15 campaign in the Netherlands, with the opportunity to play more first-team football.A Brazilian Under-20 international, Wallace joined Chelsea from Fluminense in January 2013, but he was immediately loaned back to his former club before making his debut for us during last summer’s tour of Asia. Wallace then spent last season on loan in Italy with Inter.Vitesse finished sixth in last season’s Eredivisie, and are coached by former Feyenoord midfielder Peter Bosz.Source: ChelseaFC.com"

Hopefully the year he spent at Inter Milan will be taken as a lesson in humility for Wallace as he makes he move to Vitesse. He undoubtedly thought that he would simply take European football by storm but he learned quickly that dues must be paid before stardom occurs.
