Chelsea FC striker Demba Ba has joined Istanbul club Besiktas on a permanent transfer that sees the Senegalese striker’s time at Stamford Bridge come to an end.
Ba always conducted himself as a model professional and never complained about his lack of chances last season and when he was given the chance, he scored some very important goals for the club. He was given assurances at the end of the season that his role would increase at Chelsea but alas it was not to be the case.
The Turkish club announced the signing of Ba via Twitter early in the morning.
Ba also announced his swtich via Twitter.
The switch means that Chelsea have two first team strikers (if the youngsters don’t head out on loan again) and it could possibly help aid the arrival of Romelu Lukaku into the squad for a full season, as Lukaku and Fernando Torres could be competing for second-choice striker.
Ba scored 14 goals in 51 appearances during his one and a half year spell with the club, but with the increase of competition in the form of newly signed Diego Costa from Atlético Madrid, Ba may have gotten even fewer opportunities this season and he certainly is a player that deserves first-choice minutes.
He was never an important goal scorer for Chelsea but he was certainly a scorer of some very important goals. Best of luck with Besiktas, Demba!
