Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho suggested earlier today that Chelsea will not sign any more players during the summer transfer window. He also said that Chelsea would wait until after the World Cup to sign players but they did not so make of this statement what you will.

Mourinho spoke to BT Sport shortly after the Blues confirmed the signing of Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis on a three-year deal, and is quoted as saying “The transfer market closes 31 August and we close our market on July 19″.  He later went on to say “We are happy…we feel that our squad is want we want”.

Chelsea have already signed Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa and central midfielder Cesc Fabregas of Barcelona earlier in the window, which shores up some of last season’s frailties in the league in a formidable way. The striker position was clearly in the most need of a revamp and the addition of Costa and the return of Romelu Lukaku will do wonders for the team. Rumors have also swirled about Chelsea having a possible interest in Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira or Juventus’s Paul Pogba, but with the manager’s comments those moves appear less than likely.

If Chelsea are well and truly done signing players in this summer transfer window then the business has been well and speedily done.  The team has just shy of an entire month before the Premier League season begins on August 18th away at Burnley to train together and assimilate the newest members into the squad, which is an exciting prospect for Chelsea fans and a frightening prospect for every one else. If Chelsea are to indeed make a push for the title like they plan to, then these new signings will be key towards reaching that goal.
